Frequently Asked Questions

Are all calculators on pfcalculator.in free?

Yes. Every calculator is free to use, needs no sign-up and runs in your browser, so the numbers you type are not sent to any server.

Which calculator should I use to plan my retirement?

Start with the EPF calculator if you are salaried, then add the NPS, PPF and SIP calculators to see how much more you may need. Comparing them shows the gap between your goal and your current savings.

How accurate are the results?

The formulas follow the rules of each scheme and the interest rates notified for the current period. Results are estimates; your passbook, bank or fund statement is the final record.

Where do the interest rates come from?

EPF rates come from EPFO, and PPF, SSY and SCSS rates from the Ministry of Finance, which revises the small savings rates every quarter. We keep all rates in one place and update them when they change.

Can I download or share my calculation?

Yes. Every calculator has a Preview & Save button that opens an A4 PDF report. You can save it on your device or share it from the preview.

What is the difference between EPF, VPF and PPF?

EPF is the compulsory provident fund for salaried employees, VPF is extra voluntary contribution to the same EPF account, and PPF is a separate 15-year government savings scheme open to everyone.
